2025 WAEC English Language Exam Format & Likely Topics

The WAEC English Language exam consists of:

Paper 1 (Objective Questions) – 80 multiple-choice questions on grammar, vocabulary, idioms, and structure.
Paper 2 (Essay, Comprehension, and Summary)
Paper 3 (Oral English – For Some Candidates)

Likely WAEC 2025 English Language Questions

Essay Writing (50 Marks) – You will be required to write on ONE of the following:

  • Formal Letter – Write a letter to a government official about a pressing issue in your community.
  • Informal Letter – Write a letter to your friend explaining an interesting event.
  • Article Writing – Write an article on "The Importance of Reading Among Students."
  • Speech Writing – A speech for a school event or debate on topics like "Technology and Education."

Comprehension Passage (20 Marks)

  • Read and answer questions based on a given passage.

Summary Passage (30 Marks)

  • Read and summarize a given text within a specific word limit.

Grammar & Vocabulary Questions

Oral English (For Some Candidates)
