Background

The history of higher education in the Republic of Benin in general and the establishment of the Abomey University, in particular, represents a long process marked by major events. Among these facts, we can keep those represented in the following table: April 24, 1961: Agreement on cooperation in the field of higher education between the Republic of Dahomey and the French Republic November 27, 1962: The creation of a literary propédeutique in Porto Novo July 14, 1965: The creation of the Institute of Higher Education in Benin (IESB) with the transfer of literary criticism in Lomé and start research in PORTO NOVO
