Ethiopian Chapter of AWFISHNET established – new executive constituted

Ethiopia held the launch of the AWFISHNET Chapter at Jupiter International Hotel in Addis Ababa on 11-12 October 2021. The initiative is being implemented by AU-IBAR and AUDI-NEPAD (under the Fisheries Governance 2 Project0 under financing from the European Union. The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture of Ethiopia. A total of 23 women and men participants attended the meeting. The participants were drawn from different private sector actors in the fisheries and aquaculture value chain, government sector, international organizations, professional and sectoral associations, consultants and mass media agency.
The major outcomes of the meeting can be summarized as:
· The consultative meeting to establish the Ethiopian Chapter of AWFISHNET successfully organized
· Constitution and Rules of Procedure of AWFISHNET Ethiopia adopted
· Action Plan 2022-2023 of AWFISHNET Ethiopia adopted
· The Ethiopian Chapter of AWFISHNET established
· Election of the Executive Committee of AWFISHNET Ethiopia conducted
The newly elected members of the Executive Committee of AWFISHNET Ethiopia are:
· Mrs Kidist Zelalem Chairperson
· Mrs Tsion Dereje Vice Chairperson
· Mrs Maheder Admassu Secretary General
· Mrs Hiwot Teshome Vice Secretary General
· Mrs Mekdes Teka Treasurer
· Ms Ruth Desalegn Representative of Disabled People
· Mrs Berhan Mohammed Representative of Youth
· The eighth member of the Executive Committee will be an employed Executive Manager.
