Since its establishment in 2018, the AWARFA-N has developed from the concept of a single continental network to maturing Regional and country networks. More recently one regional network (AWARFA East Africa) and Country networks are being established around the continent. A consequence of this development is a broader buy-in by stakeholders as well as increased responsibilities for the regional and country chapters to ensure proper operation of their networks.

The 2021 World Veterinary Day theme is The Veterinarian Response to the Covid-19 Crisis. AU-IBAR will commemorate this day by discussing pertinent issues driving the implementation of the Animal Health Strategy for Africa (AHSA) through a podcast series and a webinar.

70 Years of Implementing Change in the Animal Resources Sector

Twenty-Twenty-One (2021) marks 70 years since the African Union InterAfrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) was founded. With its current mission to provide leadership and integrated support services for the development of animal resources in Africa, this is not just a celebratory year but also a reflective one.
