Since its establishment in 2018, the AWARFA-N has developed from the concept of a single continental network to maturing Regional and country networks. More recently one regional network (AWARFA East Africa) and Country networks are being established around the continent. A consequence of this development is a broader buy-in by stakeholders as well as increased responsibilities for the regional and country chapters to ensure proper operation of their networks.

AU-IBAR joined the rest of the world in an online campaign commemorating International Women’s Day #IWD, by highlighting quotes from women in the animal resources community, drawing on the global theme for this year: #ChoosetoChallenge.
